Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, Islamist terrorism has reached Western countries, including Germany. The attack at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin left 13 dead and many injured, some of whom continue to suffer from the consequences years later, including panic attacks and flashbacks. How are these individuals doing today? Do they still suffer from the psychological effects? How do they assess the state responses to the attack? This investigation addresses these questions and adopts a victim perspective with a focus on subjective security.
