The integration of pupils with special needs in the context of inclusion means that special educational needs are often no longer identified. Pupils from the (former) learning focus are lost from view because they do not have an obviously identifiable disability or impairment. Against this background, the book outlines criteria that can distinguish learning disabilities. First, the external risk factors and individual characteristics that can make learning difficult are explained. This is followed by detailed descriptions of the manifestations of learning disabilities in language, learning and performance behaviour as well as in the social-emotional behaviour of pupils. This helps teachers to focus on these children and young people with their special needs and to provide them with targeted support.
