Product details
The fact that great virtuosos could also compose easily playable pieces is demonstrated in Volume 5 of the Urtext Primo series. It connects two of the perhaps most well-known pianist personalities of the 19th century: Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt. The technical demands of the works compiled here are very moderate, while still acknowledging the stylistic characteristics of these two composers, such as harmony and the sound design of piano writing. The feeling of playing a genuine Liszt piece as a beginner may significantly contribute to motivation. The third composer in this volume is Ferdinand Hiller, also a famous virtuoso of the 19th century, to whom none other than Robert Schumann dedicated his piano concerto. Just like in some works by Liszt or Chopin, Hiller's pieces also frequently feature folk music influences. Works such as his Irish Song or his Fandango, included in this collection, are samples of 19th-century World Music. Volume 5 of the Urtext Primo series connects 19th-century pianists: Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Ferdinand Hiller. The technical demands of the works are very moderate while still respecting the stylistic characteristics of these composers. Difficulty level: 2-3.
