Between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean lies the Philippines, consisting of over 7,000 islands. As a result, the Philippines is today the only country in Southeast Asia with a predominantly Catholic population; many people have Spanish names, the education system is modeled after the American one, and the cuisine is also influenced by Spanish and American flavors.
