The trial against Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Ulrike Meinhof, and Jan-Carl Raspe is considered one of the major criminal proceedings of the 20th century. The main hearings took place from 1975 to 1977 at the Higher Regional Court in Stuttgart-Stammheim. Does the trial demonstrate that the Federal Republic was able to withstand the challenge of terrorism? Or can it be said that a fair trial was not possible? To this day, opinions on this matter differ. For the first time, a comprehensive selection of the unpublished court transcripts is presented here. Numerous annotations explain the course of the trial and provide context. The book thus offers a direct insight into a spectacular trial in which the rule of law was tested more than once.
