This book provides insight into current practices in residential education. It examines the approach to male adolescents who are considered particularly difficult due to pronounced social behavior disorders. The author sheds light on the repeated failures of support processes from a two-dimensional perspective: on one hand, from the educator's viewpoint, and on the other, from the experiences and reality construction of the affected adolescent. Both the educator and the adolescent face an almost impossible task: to reconcile differing intentions, educational practices, concepts of freedom, educational needs, and acceptance requirements into a feasible path for the adolescent. The goal is to achieve a life in society that can be organized in self-responsibility, away from violence and the threat of crime. The work demonstrates how the lack of attachment affects practice.
