A graphic designer's career like this only comes around once: Celestino Piatti's (1922-2007) images are engraved in the collective consciousness. His more than 6,000 book covers, which he designed for the German paperback publisher Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag from 1961 to the mid-1990s, his unmistakable posters and his children's books translated into many languages were particularly influential for several generations of readers. Piatti also created paintings, lithographs, illustrations and sculptures, which are part of his rich artistic legacy in terms of both ideas and materials. Celestino Piatti would have been 100 years old in 2022. The anniversary provides an opportunity to honour his unique oeuvre in an illustrated book.
