Product details

Jakob Wassermann (1873-1934), who was friends with Rilke, Schnitzler, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, and Thomas Mann, published his novel 'Caspar Hauser or the Inertia of the Heart' in 1908 at the beginning of his career as a writer. Despite positive critical reactions, the novel did not achieve popular success until Wassermann became one of the most popular German authors during the Weimar Republic. In the novel, Wassermann depicts the last six years of the still-mysterious Caspar Hauser, who spent this time in Nuremberg and Ansbach in Franconia, and ultimately fell victim to a (presumed) assassination attempt.
