Caspar David Friedrich

The 250th anniversary of the birth of Caspar David Friedrich, one of the most important and popular German painters, is marked by numerous publications, including several exhibition catalogues. This publication offers an overview in which a newly discovered drawing and the Karlsruhe sketchbook, which will be auctioned on 30 November 2023, are published for the first time in the context of his complete oeuvre. This provides a view of the early oeuvre that has not yet been possible. As the painter's oeuvre is manageable, all of Friedrich's important oil paintings and many drawings can be illustrated and discussed. The author and publisher Dr Michael Imhof attaches great importance to the print quality and generous illustration of the book, which includes all the important works.
