author's text
Andreas Steinhöfel was born in 1962 in Battenberg. He works as a translator, reviewer and scriptwriter, but above all he is the author of numerous award-winning children's and youth books. His bestseller "Die Mitte der Welt" was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 1999 and has since been published in many countries around the world. After Peter Rühmkorf, Loriot, Robert Gernhardt and Tomi Ungerer, Andreas Steinhöfel was awarded the Erich Kästner Prize for Literature in 2009. In 2009, he also received several prizes for "Rico, Oskar and the Deep Shadows", including the German Youth Literature Prize, the Catholic Children's and Youth Book Prize and the "Lesekünstler 2009" (Reading Artist 2009) award from the assortment committee of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association.

blurb
Seventeen-year-old Phil is searching. As little as he knows about his past, so chaotic is his present. There is, for example, his mother Glass with her constantly changing lovers. Or his twin sister Dianne, rugged and idiosyncratic, with secrets she no longer shares with Phil. Or Annie, the crazy old woman with the red shoes, who seems to feed exclusively on cherry liqueur, and Nicholas, the unattainable, with whom Phil has fallen in love immortally. Phil longs for orientation and perspectives. And especially after learning more about yourself ...
