Prof. Dr. Lennart Souchon, retired sea captain, is a naval officer from the 1962 crew. From 1971 to 1976, he studied in the USA and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. Since 1975, he has been a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London and, since 1981, a member of the Clausewitz Society. After completing his general staff training in Hamburg, engaging in conceptual planning activities, and serving as a commander, he continues to teach at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College (FüAkBw), the highest military training institution for staff officers in the Bundeswehr. In 1992, he became the head of studies at the Federal Academy for Security Policy and the head of the Department of Security Policy and Strategy at the FüAkBw. In 1999, he founded the International Clausewitz Center and in 2010 the Clausewitz Network for Strategic Studies (CNSS). Since 1993, he has been engaged in research at the University of Potsdam, focusing on strategy theory. From 2002 to 2004, he was a lecturer at the University of Halle. In 2003, he was appointed professor by the rector of the University of Potsdam. He is an author for Mittler in the Maximilian Verlag and editor of numerous publications from the Federal Academy and Clausewitz Information.
