Horst Dornbusch has more than a quarter-century of experience as a brewer and beer writer. He is one of the most well-known figures globally in both fields. He is a fluent bilingual German-American dual citizen who has published hundreds of articles in European and North American trade journals. He writes books in both German and English, and his beer creations and writings have won numerous national and international awards. In 2011, he was the Associate Editor of the monumental reference work The Oxford Companion to Beer published by Oxford University Press. The jury of the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards selected his book Beer Styles from Around the World as the best American beer book for 2016 and one of the eight best beer books worldwide. Professionally, he is a consultant in the international brewing industry.
