Jenny Brosinski's large-format paintings look like uncoordinated abstract compositions that deliberately show signs of use. This emphasises their materiality and reveals the artistic process. Expressive oil paint on unprimed canvas, sprayed lines, writing elements, shoe prints or overpasting on the canvas are, on the one hand, experiments and assertions, and on the other, an exploration of painting itself. Since 2019, the artist has also been working as a sculptor. The figurative, sometimes colourfully painted animal creatures made of bronze or stone are further proof of her subtle humour, which also manifests itself in the paintings and especially in their titles.
