As a social science concept, biography is relevant for empirical research and theory formation in various disciplines, as well as for the connection between science and practice in education, social work, or care. Bettina Dausien has significantly shaped biography research in both educational science and sociology over the decades with her empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions. The central subjects of her work are education and socialization, educational biographies and biographical knowledge, as well as the conditions of social inequality, particularly in the field of gender studies.
