Ludwig Maurer, the youngest scion of a long-established family of restaurateurs from Bavaria, began his culinary career at the age of 15. After several positions in Germany, he completed his training as a hotel specialist at a hotel management school and later became a state-certified master chef. He has learned and internalized his solid knowledge and respect for meat from his father, Josef Maurer, who is also a chef and farmer, since early childhood. Maurer can be seen on television in formats such as "The Perfect Professional Dinner" on VOX, "Galileo," "BR Landfrauenküche," "Kitchen Impossible" with Tim Mälzer, and his own show "In 880 Steaks Around the World." Photographer Volker Debus, a native of Hesse with years of training and travel from Germany's northernmost metropolis to the eastern United States, does not fit into any box. He masters the entire spectrum from opulent to minimalist and captures the perfectly arranged plate just as confidently as the portrait of the pastry chef. His food photography reflects a connoisseur's passion for good food and culinary arts, while his portraits express a keen sense for the ideal moment.
