Product details

Atomic volcano Golkonda was first published in 1959 and tells, after a typical description of the flight preparations, about a dangerous expedition to Venus, which is still fascinating today, especially thanks to the realistic character drawings in tragic situations. The debut novel by the Strugatzki brothers is at the same time the beginning of a multifaceted, far-reaching conception of the world that reaches into the 23rd century and has become known as the World of Noon. Very successful in the 1960s, the novel was subsequently overshadowed by more recent works by the Strugatzkis for a long time, but it experienced a renaissance after the publication in 1993 of an uncensored and unedited version reconstructed from the manuscripts (of which over a quarter of a million copies have now been sold in Russia). The present German edition has been compared with this version; it will be completed.
