The first textbook for learners who speak Russian as a family or heritage language. Reading and writing are the main focus.

Concept: Since the textbook places a strong emphasis on reading and writing, it begins with a gradual introduction to the Russian alphabet (both print and cursive) as well as the basic rules of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Targeted exercises (writing practice, dictations, fill-in-the-blank texts, etc.) and specific guidance on language norms and exceptions help learners improve their writing skills and abilities.

Following the basic introduction to writing, more challenging tasks such as composing and presenting their own texts (letters, free writing) are introduced. At the same time, vocabulary and existing oral competencies are expanded and stylistically enhanced to enable learners to avoid colloquial or informal language in academic or professional contexts.
