Burnout and prevention

A cardinal symptom of burnout syndrome is emotional exhaustion: joy, happiness, interest, and well-being give way to amnesia. Likewise, the ability for empathy and appreciation diminishes. The disconnection from life can lead to suicide. Physicians are particularly affected by this exclusion from life when coping mechanisms fail. This book evokes memories and aims to lay the foundation for a new medical era, in which physicians also take a health-promoting look at themselves. From the perspectives of clinical psychology, organizational consulting, and group dynamics, as well as from a medical viewpoint, connections to forgotten roots and physiologies are established. The four authors share their own learned experiences. Instead of adhering to specific traditions, they keep access and space open for leaps of consciousness.
