Product details

The history of the Burg Herzberg Festival begins with a band competition. The organizers, The Petards, want to enhance their annual fan club meeting in this way. But fate has more in store for this place. Within three years, the provincial castle beat show evolves into a professional festival of national significance, gathering nearly all the key bands of Krautrock on stage, including Can, Embryo, Amon Düül II, Guru Guru, Tangerine Dream, and others. Then The Petards part ways, and for almost two decades, silence falls over the castle, until Kalle Becker revives the legend in 1991. The Burg Herzberg Festival strikes a chord once again and soon becomes the largest hippie gathering in Europe. For those who want to know what Love, Peace & Music felt like in the late sixties – you won't get closer than in Freak City. The Burg Herzberg Festival – since 1968 chronicles the eventful history of this traditional hippie convention. Self-ironic, rich in anecdotes, with many pictures and illustrations – and by no means sober.
