Buchners Kompendium Kunst

Buchner's Compendium of Art is a completely newly designed reading, learning, and working book. It covers all fundamental topics of art history and can be used as a reference work and introductory reading for upper secondary school or for the subjects of art and art history. In nine chapters, all relevant art periods from antiquity to the present are succinctly presented. The contributions provide the necessary foundational knowledge for artwork analysis and interpretation. Selected works from all genres focus on the art of Europe and North America as well as on non-European continents. Each major chapter begins with a key work from an era and a thought-provoking quote on an introductory double page. This is followed by introductions that convey the necessary background understanding of the historical, political, and cultural contexts of the artworks.
