Before World War II, around 200 Jews lived in Weiden in about 40 families. By 1945, none of them remained. At least 56 Jews from Weiden were murdered in the Holocaust. All the others fled to various parts of the world. Who were these people and what happened to them? This book reveals unimaginable fates. The Weiden Jew Justin Kohner became a resistance fighter in the Résistance. He returned in 1945 as a avenger. The family men Hugo Hutzler and Julius Kahn were banished to Australia as "Enemy Aliens," while their wives and daughters perished in extermination camps. The book also tells the story of the little boy Daniel Heiman, who in 2024 - at the age of 98 - received a package from his murdered parents. This book contains previously unpublished letters and photos. For the first time, it also publishes material from archives around the world that has only now become accessible.
