Ana, listen to me. We are going to play a game, okay? All you have to do is stay very close to me, really close. When I fall into the pit, you will fall too. Just close your eyes and keep your body straight. But it will only work if we both fall at exactly the same moment. Do you understand? These are the last words that 10-year-old Ana remembers as she gets up from the forest floor. She survived by a trick, but her father and mother are dead. It’s 1991, near Zagreb, in a country where neighbors have turned into enemies. Ana manages to escape to America, along with her little sister Rahela, who is still a baby. Rahela grows up carefree, but Ana cannot forget. Until one day she decides to return to present-day Croatia, to the place that is still full of wonders for her.
