GermanProduct details
Two women, raised in Georgia during the 1990s – a story that is as moving as it is stirring about political and personal breaks and a friendship that holds everything together. Elena grows up in Tbilisi with her best friend Ane. Their childhood is marked by the struggle for Georgia's independence. Without understanding what is happening around them, the two must learn early on to cope with the hardships of war. Ane paints pictures for Elena, depicting her dreams, and they write letters to each other while Elena is alone in Germany. They lead separate lives in completely different countries yet share a similar fate marked by male violence. Until one day, Ane disappears, and Elena sets out to find her. Iunona Guruli tells a story that is equally moving and stirring against the historical backdrop of the collapse of the USSR, about betrayal of oneself, about falls and new beginnings, and about a friendship that holds everything together.
