In this book, the topic of estimating is applied to the project world. We are all familiar with major construction projects that are usually much more expensive and take longer than estimated. Whether it's the Elbe Philharmonic Hall, Berlin Airport or Stuttgart 21, delays and cost increases are the order of the day. In the agile project world, significantly better estimates are expected than with traditional methods. Firstly, the classic project plan is not used in an agile context, and secondly, the planning cycles are significantly shorter. This volume concentrates on highlighting the main causes of misjudgements and highlighting ways to improve the quality of estimates. It is by no means to be understood as a plea against estimations, but is entirely in the spirit of Dwight D. Eisenhower's statement: Plans are useless, but planning is essential.
