Eigentümer des Lapsus

In her first poetry picture book, Basia Feninsky brings together lyrical short texts that revolve around themes of wounds, animals, artistic landscapes, and everyday details. The thematic focal points are complemented by elements of water, cold, structures, and celestial bodies.

Surrealism, alienation, image overlays, and unexpected personifications characterize the work. The stylistic uniqueness lies in associative leaps and assonances, as well as in the close intertwining of technical language and classical lyrical inventory. Intertextual and intermedial references – including those to Nabokov, Capote, Percy, "Citizen Kane," and Pollock – introduce an exciting additional layer.

The lyrical prose texts present themselves with great openness while simultaneously refusing a definitive interpretive approach. As a result, the text becomes firmly lodged in the reader. It resonates and invites repeated readings.
