Product details
In the letters exchanged between Richard Wagner (1813-1883) and Franz Liszt (1811-1886) from 1854 to 1861, the focus is primarily on Wagner's exile in Switzerland, his literary and essayistic activities, his failed opera project 'Wieland the Smith,' as well as the initial formulation of his idea for the 'Ring of the Nibelung.' This period also includes the dramatic love affair with Mathilde Wesendonck and the impending separation from Wagner's first wife, Minna. This is a reprint of the second edition published in Leipzig in 1900.
