Product details
Pope Celestine I lived from around 376 until August 1, 432, and served as Bishop of Rome from September 10, 422 until his death. Celestine spent his tenure primarily combating various ideologies deemed heretical. He supported the mission of the Gallic bishops, who in 429 sent Germanus of Auxerre to Britain to fight Pelagianism, and later appointed Palladius as bishop for the Scots in Ireland and Northern Britain. In 430, he held a synod in Rome that condemned the apparent views of Nestorius. This volume includes his most important letters.
