In communist Georgia of the 1980s, Elena grows up as a sheltered only child with her mother and grandmother in Tbilisi. Her life oscillates between the dreamlike sequences of a carefree childhood and the harsh reality of historical upheavals. When she leaves Tbilisi to study in Germany, she encounters a different kind of threat. Stranded in Berlin, Elena receives a letter from her childhood friend who disappeared years earlier, prompting her to embark on a journey into her family's past, which is intricately intertwined with the fate of an entire country.
