After Detective Sergeant Brant disregards all rules and knocks out a troublemaker in a pool hall, a young policewoman is shot dead on the street by an unknown assailant. Sensational reporter Harold Dunlop, known for his particularly defamatory articles about Brant, receives a call from the cop killer, who reveals that he intends to kill eight more police officers. Shortly after, he shoots a police officer in his patrol car. An investigative team is formed with Detective Inspector Porter Nash to catch the cop killer as quickly as possible.
