BMW Photo Award Leipzig 2024

Photography has a long and rich tradition in Leipzig, closely linked to the Academy of Visual Arts. This tradition holds immense artistic potential for the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig (MdbK) and the city itself. Together with the BMW Group, the MdbK organizes the BMW Photo Award Leipzig, which is awarded every two years. The first laureates of the BMW Photo Award Leipzig 2024 are Margit Emmrich, Susanne Keichel, and Stephan Takkides, whose works exemplarily reflect the character of the award. In addition to strengthening Leipzig's position as a photography hub and supporting the photographers working here, the catalog and exhibition of the awarded works serve as an artistic contribution to societal self-reflection on the city's history and present, as well as potential perspectives for its future.
