The poems of Pius Strassmann are rooted in the experience of a torn world. The voice that speaks in them is exposed to this fragmentation. Its place is in between. There, the contrasts are particularly palpable, and they become tangible in language: light and dark, hustle and silence, reality and dream. The poems testify to the attempt to break free from polarizations and to reach a new freedom beyond them. In them, something wonderfully light resonates, hinting at where the journey leads. Not away from the world, but right into it, towards the sensory experience of sound and color, towards the surprises of everyday life, towards the play of water, mist, and winds.
