Akbar is 16 years old when he is apprehended by the German police in 2009 shortly before the Danish border as an "unaccompanied minor refugee". In this book, the young man talks in simple, clear words about his childhood and youth in Afghanistan and Iran, about his dramatic escape via Turkey, Greece, Italy and France to Germany, and about his successful integration until he finishes school in 2015. Akbar's report presents the situation of numerous refugees in the middle of Europe in a ruthless and authentic way: they are at the mercy of unscrupulous smugglers, have to endure life-threatening crossings in boats that are far too small, and also take breakneck risks. When Akbar secretly entered the hold of a truck in a Greek port city, the situation became more fatal.
