Blenden Wuchern Lamentieren
German, Christian Circle, 2019Product details
The world view of business administration - which also applies to a certain extent to economics - can be summarized in one core statement: Profit maximization. It is regarded as the highest goal on earth, and practically the entire doctrinal edifice is built on this principle. Production processes, purchasing, marketing, human resources, management, legal form, investment, financing, taxation - all subareas of business administration are subordinated to it. Sometimes this axiomatic basic condition is named more subtly: Economic Value Added (EVA), value-based management, shareholder value, return on capital, but the goal is always the same: to maximize profits or returns. In "Blenden, Wuchern, Lamentieren," Christian Kreiß and Heinz Siebenbrock describe the serious effects that this principle of profit maximization has on the most diverse areas of our economic and social life. It promotes competitive thinking and egoistic behavior and leads to environmental destruction, social degradation and an increasing brutalization of society. But the authors also show encouraging alternatives, how each individual can contribute to overcome the problems of the inhumane principle of profit maximization and replace it by human-oriented goals. A change in thinking is possible!
