Product details

Author: Michael McDowellMichael McDowell was born in Alabama, USA, in 1950. In 1979, he published THE AMULET, the first of more than 30 novels. Although he also wrote crime novels and comedies, his most important works include the horror novels COLD MOON OVER BABYLON (1980), THE ELEMENTALS (1981) and the BLACKWATER saga (1983), which was first published in six individual volumes - a method that Stephen King adopted for THE GREEN MILE. From 1985 Michael McDowell also wrote for television, for example episodes for Tales from the Crypt or Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He also wrote the screenplays for Tim Burton's films BEETLEJUICE and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Michael McDowell contracted AIDS in 1994 and died in 1999. Tabitha King, Stephen King's wife, completed the unfinished novel CANDLES BURNING, which was published in 2006. Michael McDowell was a master of Southern Gothic horror, highly praised by Stephen King as "a writer for the ages". And King's assessment has been confirmed, as Michael McDowell's work has not only been rediscovered in the English-speaking world in recent years, but his novels are now also being published in various translations in Europe with great success.
