Product details

It is said to be the greatest revolution of our time: the equality and equal rights of women and men. However, the war and peace between the sexes did not begin with the feminism of the 20th century, but rather with their coexistence. And of course, it is not true that women are "more bitter than death," as stated in the Bible—this reflects an attitude that significantly contributed to the discrimination against women. The well-known psychiatrist and author Andreas Marneros entertainingly, excitingly, and knowledgeably explores the origins and psychological mechanisms of gender relations, particularly the so-called "misogyny." He discusses the roles that religion, philosophy, mythology, history, science, and politics play as causes and amplifiers of the discrimination against women—a discrimination that is rooted not in hatred, as is commonly claimed, but in fear of women. Marneros outlines ways to reduce this fear of men regarding equality. His conclusion is that mere equality is not enough; a widespread and respectful culture towards women, a "gynaephilic" culture, is urgently needed. However, this culture must also respect men.
