She is waiting for the day when she will become a bird, when she can spread her wings and fly away - home. Because she is the "Bird Girl," the strong and invulnerable bird girl. But then December gets a very special foster mother: Eleanor. She works at a wildlife rehabilitation center and shares December's love for birds. She entrusts December with the responsibility for Henrietta, an injured red-tailed hawk. And as December tries to gain Henrietta's trust, she also quietly begins to feel hope for the first time in a long while. Could it be that there is a place for her after all, a safe and warm nest that she doesn’t have to leave immediately?.
