Biomechanik und Funktionsmorphologie baumförmiger Trauerformen

This study examined various tree species with a pendulous crown form to gain a better understanding of the causes of this habitus. For this purpose, hanging and non-hanging branches of the tree species Golden Weeping Willow (Salix alba 'Tristis Hort'), Weeping Beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Bornyensis' and Fagus sylvatica 'Pendula'), Silver Birch (Betula pendula Roth), and Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens (D.Don) Endl.) were investigated and compared through morphological studies, 4-point bending tests, cross-sectional analyses, and impact tests to assess ontogenetic changes in their biomechanics and functional morphology.
