Educational professionals are well aware of the importance of attachment and relationships in support contexts: relationship building is the key to successful support! A fundamental basis for engaging with relationship-oriented support is attachment theory. In educational contexts, the relationship with the educational professional can be seen as an important protective factor and resource. This book illustrates the significance of successful compared to unsuccessful relational experiences for child development in various support contexts, such as early assistance, early intervention, daycare in nurseries and kindergartens, as well as in schools. This is demonstrated through case studies. Ideas for relationship building in educational contexts are derived, along with suggestions for reflecting on one's own relationship building with the child.
