In Germany there are almost innumerable further education institutions. One of the largest providers is the adult education centre. In her work, the author deals with the following questions: What is the career path to becoming a manager at an adult education centre in North Rhine-Westphalia? What educational processes has the executive gone through? Which barriers had to be overcome? What resources does the manager have? Answers will be given by means of a narrative interview and comparison with literature.
