The new large-format, carefully designed picture-text volume from Demmler Verlag Ribnitz-Damgarten addresses a topic that has never been presented in this way before. It not only showcases the unique diversity and beauty of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern landscape but also convincingly explains how it was formed and how it naturally changes over time. More than 400 impressive photos and 50 new graphics clearly and vividly convey the history of this youngest German landscape, the 'Ice Age landscape' of the inland with its forested terminal moraines and the thousand lakes - the 'children of the Ice Age.' Additionally, the chapter on 'Coastal Landscape' explains how the sea shaped its uniquely diverse shores from these glacial deposits. One chapter of the book is dedicated to the geological treasures of the region, the geotopes - for example, the massive boulders or the most interesting fossils, while another focuses on the mineral resources. All of this makes the unique geology of the region tangible, understandable, and fascinating. This is further enhanced by the short, comprehensible texts.
