Bewusstseinsbildung - Für die Rechte von Menschen mit Behinderung

In spring 2009, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was ratified in Germany. This convention adapted human rights to the specific needs and life situations of people with disabilities. The work focuses on the implementation of the convention—considering the necessary awareness-raising—within the Free State of Bavaria. It explains the essential terms and theories required for this purpose. Following this, the author exemplarily presents the historical development of disability work in Bavaria. By analyzing qualitative interviews with members of the legislature, the work provides an outlook on the future and development opportunities for a consciousness change oriented towards the idea of inclusion. The book is aimed at all laypeople and professionals interested in the topics of disability, human rights, and their implementation.
