Parents of children with disabilities are confronted with many challenges that change over the course of their lives and for which they must find solutions. This is especially true when the parents are elderly and the children with disabilities have grown up. The book takes a look at the difficult balance between the lifelong caring of the parents and the adult child's striving for self-determination. The parents' desire to ensure that their child is well cared for in old age, namely when they are no longer, is countered by scarce places in halls of residence, a lack of staff and the need to save money. What can relatives of disabled people, but also professionals, do to defuse the situation? This book deals with, among other things, the parents' recurring feelings of guilt, the difficult relationship constellations within the family, but also with the problems in the family.
