Inspector Wolfgang Böck and poet Günther Schatzdorfer travel to Venice on a quest to uncover traces of the original local culture that still exists in secret despite mass tourism and marketing. Together with their Capitano Fiore, they struggle with U ndepths, bridges that are too low and legions of mosquitoes. Sometimes they are stuck with their houseboat, have to wait for low tide or high tide and pass the time dreaming about the destination of their longing. Small harbors and piers with simple trattorias line the way, where you can sit down in the shade of poplars or tree-high oleander bushes with a glass of cool wine and listen to the flapping of herons' wings.
