Product details
The work opens a series of volumes aimed at publishing the most important materials related to the Swiss Civil Code. These volumes are intended to complement the Bernese Commentary on Swiss Private Law with a historical dimension of codification and to serve as a starting point for explanations of the current law. The first volume has been specifically completed for the centenary celebration of the Swiss Civil Code on December 10, 2007. It includes the explanations of the preliminary draft from the Federal Department of Justice and Police from 1900, which is perhaps the most beautiful and inspiring, certainly the most monumental work of materials. It reflects Eugen Huber's masterful overview of civil law and a foresight that should still serve as a model for legislative work today. For the first time in decades, it is being made accessible to a broader audience in an authentic form. For concise citation, marginal notes have been added. An index ensures the quick location of text passages.
Eugen Huber's explanations are still indispensable for understanding the Civil Code today. Wolfgang Wiegand.
