This is the new edition of the popular children's and youth book by Tamara Ramsay, presented in the original three volumes with the original illustrations and cover designs by Alfred Seidel, which have been unavailable or heavily abridged for many decades. The three volumes are slightly abridged without losing any content, and the language has been carefully modernized. "Little Dott" is an adventure and coming-of-age novel with elements of folklore and fantasy, where intercultural understanding, local knowledge, and animal protection are intertwined.

Little Dott, a twelve-year-old girl, lives in Prignitz between the wars. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she sneaks out of the house to attend the midsummer bonfire. During this, the bloom of the Rennefarre, a magical plant, falls into her shoes. Now she can see what remains invisible to humans - ghosts, fairy tale characters, and historical figures. She can understand animals and speak with them, and she can look deep into history. However, to the people, Dott has now become an invisible ghostly figure herself. To break the spell, she must leave her home.

This first volume is set in Prignitz. Dott rides with Busso, the stag, encounters Wirrli, the squirrel, saves the owl Uff, and meets the Red Boy, the Elliken, Mrs. Harke, the dyke admiral, the Wendish king, and many others who have shaped the land between East and West.
