Bergeners

Bergeners is an unusual declaration of love for Tomas Espedal's hometown, situated between mountains and fjords. The story begins in the extravagant The Standard Hotel in New York and ends in the Askanischer Hof in Berlin, as Tomas repeatedly tries to escape: from the hype surrounding his person after the publication of Knausgård's books, from the loneliness after his girlfriend left him, from himself. But each time he returns to the place of his childhood, the place that preserves his memories. Mostly they are memories of the women the author once loved. More intimately, more directly than ever before, he tells those closest to him - and thus to us - about his wild and poetic life.
