Being a parent is always a challenge, yet parenting children who develop typically differs significantly from parenting children with support needs. The contributions in this book address the topic from various perspectives. What should be considered when supporting parents who experience a (potential) impairment of their child before, during, or after birth? How does the relationship and bonding process between parents and their special child unfold, and how can early intervention provide support in this? Furthermore, the concept of family orientation is introduced, and the question is explored of how family orientation can be implemented in professional support and guidance.
