Bei Sturm am Meer

A German-Dutch family story. A hotel room in Amsterdam: Ben is waiting for the urn containing his mother Marlene's ashes. In a letter to his four-year-old son, he tries to explain how it came to be that his life suddenly changed. Forty years ago, Ben learned that his own father had been kidnapped and murdered in Colombian rebel territory while working for a German magazine. After that, everything changed for Ben's mother. However, it is only after Marlene's death that Ben realizes the extent to which his mother had entangled herself in lies and that the story of his family is a grand illusion.
