Baukultur in Zürich (Band 9): Hottingen, Witikon

The districts of Hottingen and Witikon belong to the same city circle, but they could not be more different. On one hand, there is the urban Hottingen with its bourgeois residential buildings and villas from the 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring important cultural sites and Zurich's most famous hotel, the Dolder Grand. Next to it is the younger Witikon, where a rural village center still clusters around its church hill, surrounded by post-war settlements and single-family homes. Hidden among them are some architectural gems of classical modernism and contemporary architecture. The catalog section presents the most valuable heritage buildings and a selection of good architectural examples since 1965. The series also draws attention to heritage preservation and urban planning concerns: both the appreciation and maintenance of historical architecture as well as the preservation of contemporary architecture.
