What is philosophy? And how does one philosophize? Indispensable remains the work on philosophical texts - preferably on original passages. Even in a slimmed-down and abbreviated form, philosophical text passages must meet the requirement of being accessible at an elementary level of philosophizing, without further technical knowledge and terminological prerequisites, and at the same time be concise, paradigmatic and representative. This is precisely what the present volume, Philosophy of Mind, Language, and Metaphysics, offers. It is part of the four-volume series 'Basic Texts in Philosophy', which has been selected and introduced from a didactic point of view, so that it can be as helpful as possible for school, study and self-study. The other volumes are devoted to 'Epistemology and Philosophy of Science', 'Philosophy of Culture and Cultural Anthropology' and 'Social and Political Philosophy'. All volumes correspond to the curriculum of the Gymnasiale Oberstufe.
